1. This is the most difficult one for me, but if you cook you can save a lot of money as compared to if you eat out. If you are at school or work, you might not have a choice for lunch, but breakfast and dinner at home can add up to some big savings. At a restaurant, breakfast can cost $6 and dinner even on a budget can cost $15. At home, eggs for breakfast and toast won’t be more than $2 and groceries for dinner can be around $5. So the bottom line is that comes to, $21 eating out vs. $7 cooking at home per day. That $14 difference x 30 days will save you $420 a month!
2. Cut out those movie channels on Cable. You can be charged anywhere from $10 - $50 a month for movie channels. If you are looking for a way to save, then why not try Netflix for $9.99 per month. You can keep your cable or direcTV and still save money. Netflix is great because they provide you with viewing options. Get new releases mailed to you, or stream movies directly to your laptop or Xbox360. Blockbuster also has a monthly movie rental plan, but it is more expensive and does not offer streaming movies to your computer.
3. This is a general tip that applies to a lot of people. Look for monthly recurring bills like subscriptions or memberships. Ask yourself if you really need them. I pay $35 per month for Gold’s gym membership, so if you are paying $50 or $100 per month for a fancy gym you can surely cut cost there. Also what about a lawn service of $50 per month, just another example, but you get the idea. Everyone has bills of food, electricity, and gasoline; look for other items that keep showing up on your bill. Cut them down or get rid of them and you will be saving month after month, which adds up.
